On the afternoon of April 28, Wen MIAO, Assistant Manager of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), was invited to visit the Accounting School and deliver a CPA career development lecture in Classroom 245, Quanxue Building, presenting students with new pathways for professional qualification and career growth.

Wen MIAO first highlighted the pivotal role of Hong Kong’s capital market as a financial hub connecting mainland China and international capital, sharing data on companies listed in Hong Kong’s capital market over the past two years. She encouraged students to adopt the mindset of a listed company's CFO when evaluating investment and financing decisions, and to think strategically in the process. She also discussed the compliance risks faced by Chinese enterprises when listing in different countries and regions, emphasizing that when choosing to serve capital markets, accountants must consider multiple key factors such as data security, cash flow stability from financing, and ESG disclosure requirements.
Subsequently, Wen MIAO elaborated on the advantages of HKICPA membership and the Qualification Programme (QP) system. As a founding member of the Global Accounting Alliance, HKICPA members who complete the QP are exempt from four CICPA examination papers and can obtain reciprocal recognition for major accounting qualifications in seven countries. The Accounting School’s three undergraduate programs—Accounting (CPA Track), Accounting (International Accounting Track), and Auditing—have received exemption assessment approval from HKICPA. Graduates who successfully complete the corresponding courses may be exempt from 9–10 modules of the QP examination, significantly reducing preparation difficulty.
The seminar, guided by industry demands and centered on enhancing students’ professional capabilities, provided an in-depth analysis of the synergy between professional qualification recognition and university talent development. It not only offered students a clear career development road-map but also supports the School’s ongoing exploration and upgrading in curriculum reform, professional qualification accreditation, practical teaching innovation, and digital transformation.
