On June 10, 2025, the School of Accounting at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), marking the official launch of their collaboration under the "New Partnerhip Programme". Under this programme, the HKICPA will provide eligible students with more streamlined assessment procedures for its Qualification Programme, official learning resources, and a broader platform for career development. The partnership aims to cultivate well-rounded accounting professionals who combine deep professional expertise with a broad perspective, as well as the ability to analyze big data and solve complex problems.
According to the MoU, the School's programs in Accounting (CPA direction), Accounting (International Accounting direction), and Auditing have been granted exemption assessments by the HKICPA. Graduates who successfully complete the corresponding courses will be eligible for exemptions from certain modules of the HKICPA’s Qualification Programme. Specifically, graduates from the Accounting (CPA direction) and Auditing programs will be exempted from 9 modules, while graduates from the Accounting (International Accounting direction) program will be exempted from 10 modules. In addition, the HKICPA will grant access to its official Learning Resources Centre for the School's faculty, supporting teaching and research related to the Hong Kong capital market, as well as student exam preparation and other campus activities.
The signing of this MoU represents a significant step by the School of Accounting and the HKICPA to deepen industry-education integration and promote the cultivation of high-end accounting professionals. The two parties will leverage their respective resources to engage in in-depth cooperation in areas such as course exemptions, resource sharing, and talent development, laying a solid foundation for nurturing multidisciplinary accounting professionals who can meet the demands of the times.
