On October 19, 2025, the 2025 Academic Conference of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Branch of the Chinese Commercial Accounting Society was successfully held at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE). Themed "Opportunities and Challenges for Corporate ESG Behavior in the Context of Developing New Quality Productive Forces," the conference attracted over 100 expert scholars from dozens of universities across the country.

Professor Kai ZHU, Assistant President of DUFE, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Professor ZHU extended warm congratulations on the successful convening of the conference and extended his appreciation to all the distinguished guests who had traveled from afar. He pointed out that, against the backdrop of accelerating the development of new quality productive forces, an in-depth exploration of ESG theory and practical innovation holds significant strategic importance, and he expressed his hope that the conference would promote further development in ESG research. Professor Zhihua XIE , Executive Vice President of the Chinese Commercial Accounting Society, delivered a speech on behalf of the Society. He fully affirmed the achievements made by the ESG Branch since its establishment and expressed high expectations for the integrated development of ESG research and the accounting discipline. The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Hang Liu , Dean of the School of Accounting at DUFE.



During the keynote report session, Professor Zhihua XIE from Beijing Technology and Business University delivered a presentation titled "ESG and Corporate Sustainable Development," elaborating on the core value of ESG for long-term corporate development from a strategic perspective. Professor Xinmin ZHANG from the University of International Business and Economics presented "New Developments in Financial Statement Analysis Theory Innovation," discussing the evolution path of financial analysis theory in the context of ESG from a methodological perspective. Professor Yangxin YU from City University of Hong Kong presented "The Extension of ESG Research," proposing important directions for paradigm innovation in ESG research. Professor Shangkun LIANG from the Central University of Finance and Economics presented "Blood Ties and Employees' Protection: Evidence from Executives' Clan Culture," showcasing empirical research findings on the role of cultural factors in corporate governance. The keynote report session was moderated by Professor Mingquan SHENG from Anhui University of Finance and Economics and Professor Hanyou HAN from Nanjing Audit University.



The conference featured four parallel forums covering key themes such as "Corporate ESG Performance," "Economic Consequences of ESG Behavior," "Environmental Regulation and Corporate Governance," and "Green Development and Corporate Behavior." Centered around these themes, participating experts and scholars presented the latest research findings on topics including digital technology risk exposure and corporate ESG investment, the impact of ESG rating divergence on corporate green innovation bubbles, environmentally intelligent supervision and corporate environmental violations, and dual-wheel linkage fiscal and tax policies and corporate green development. The on-site discussions were lively and the academic atmosphere was intense.

During the closing ceremony, Professor Shengbao ZHAI, President of the ESG Branch of the Chinese Commercial Accounting Society, delivered a concluding speech. He spoke highly of the successful organization of the conference and expressed sincere gratitude to the School of Accounting of DUFE for its meticulous arrangements and to all the experts and scholars for their strong support. The conference also held an award ceremony for outstanding papers. The closing ceremony was Chaired by Associate Professor Haoran XU, Associate Dean of the School of Accounting at DUFE.
The successful holding of this conference represents another important practice by DUFE in serving the national "dual carbon" goals and the strategic development of new quality productive forces. The academic consensus and innovative ideas gathered at the conference have injected new vitality into ESG theoretical research and corporate practice in China, further consolidating and enhancing the important position and academic influence of DUFE's accounting discipline in the field of ESG research nationwide. Looking ahead, the university will continue to leverage its disciplinary advantages, deepen industry-university-research collaboration, and continuously contribute "DUFE strength" to the development of a Chinese-style ESG system and the promotion of green transformation and high-quality development in the economy and society.
