Dongbei University of Finance and Economics Successfully Hosts the 2025 Annual Academic Conference of the Accounting Society of China

From July 11 to 13, the 2025 Annual Academic Conference of the Accounting Society of China (ASC) was held at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics (DUFE). Under the theme "Accounting Services for the Development of New Quality Productive Forces," the conference brought together over 400 participants, including experts and scholars from more than 100 universities and colleges across China, representatives from local and national industry accounting societies, as well as delegates from academic journals and media outlets.

On behalf of all faculty and students of DUFE, Hongxing FANG extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the attending leaders, guests, experts, scholars, and promising young researchers. He reviewed the development history of DUFE since its founding in 1952, noting that the university has grown into a research-oriented institution of finance and economics with distinctive strengths in economics and management. He emphasized DUFE's active commitment to major national strategies and the revitalization of Northeast China, making outstanding contributions to national and regional economic development. Thanks to the efforts of generations of scholars, the university's accounting discipline has developed a strong foundation in talent cultivation and scientific research, becoming a leading center for teaching and research in the field. He noted that the concept of new quality productive forces is of great significance for the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure in Northeast China, and that the theme of this year's conference is highly relevant to both the contemporary era and the region's characteristics. He also pointed out that the central government's emphasis on accounting work and its call for building China's independent knowledge system represent an important mission for accounting theory and education professionals. He expressed his hope that participants would engage in active exchanges around the conference theme and work together to achieve new breakthroughs in China's accounting theory research.

During the keynote session, five experts delivered insightful reports on topics including financial management innovation and the development of new quality productive forces, accounting reform and development in the context of new quality productive forces, the construction of China's independent accounting knowledge system, sustainable information disclosure and new quality productive forces, and management accounting and new quality productive forces. The speakers included: Professor Dewu ZHAO (Vice President of the Accounting Society of China, Professor at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics), Professor Xinyuan CHEN (Vice President of the Accounting Society of China, Professor at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics), Guangzhong LIU (First-Level Inspector of the Accounting Department of the Ministry of Finance and Secretary-General of the Accounting Society of China), Professor Pengcheng WANG (Beijing Technology and Business University), and Professor Junyong LIU (Central University of Finance and Economics). Their presentations emphasized that accounting work must both adhere to the essential functions and behavioral principles of the discipline and adapt to the changes of the times and technological advancements, continuously innovating to better promote the development of new quality productive forces. The session was moderated respectively by Shaofeng ZHANG (Vice President of the Accounting Society of China, Director and Deputy Party Secretary of Dongfang Electric Corporation), Professor Huacheng WANG (Vice President of the Accounting Society of China, Renmin University of China), and Professor Xianzhong SONG (Former President of Jinan University).

During the round-table session, under the theme "Serving the Development of New Quality Productive Forces with High-Quality Audit," an in-depth discussion was held featuring Professor Zhihua XIE (Former Vice President of Beijing Technology and Business University), Professor Yonghai WANG (Wuhan University), Zhenhan CHEN (Director of the Audit and Risk Department of CRRC Group), Zhiguo YANG (Executive President of BDO China), and Fengwen SUN (Director of the Finance Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University). The participants explored, from various perspectives, how audit work can leverage digital technologies to enhance its capacity to serve the development of new quality productive forces, as well as the major challenges facing audit work and corresponding response strategies. The round-table session was moderated by Professor Shizhong HUANG (Vice President of the Accounting Society of China, Xiamen National Accounting Institute).

In the parallel forum sessions, in-depth discussions were held on 42 selected papers organized under six thematic tracks: "Accounting Reform and the Development of New Quality Productive Forces," "Financial Management Innovation and the Development of New Quality Productive Forces," "Financial and Accounting Supervision and the Development of New Quality Productive Forces," "Accounting Digital Intelligence and the Development of New Quality Productive Forces," "Accounting and the High-Quality Development of Capital Markets," and "The Construction of China's Independent Accounting Knowledge System." Each paper received detailed commentary from multiple renowned accounting experts, top-tier researchers, or young scholars, and the on-site discussion atmosphere was highly engaging.

During the annual academic conference, two concurrent meetings were also held: the National Conference of Secretaries-General of Accounting Societies and the Accounting Journals Working Exchange Meeting. More than 40 representatives from 31 provincial-level local accounting societies and three national industry accounting societies attended the secretaries-general meeting, where they introduced their respective institutions' work and exchanged experiences. Representatives from over 20 academic journals participated in the journals working exchange meeting, expressing their commitment to further establishing communication mechanisms, strengthening editorial collaboration, fostering a healthy academic ecosystem, and improving journal quality.


At the closing ceremony, Professor Hang LIU (Dean of the School of Accounting, DUFE) and Professor Guangsheng SUN (President of the Liaoning Accounting and Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Society) delivered speeches as representatives of the host institutions. They expressed sincere gratitude for the trust and guidance of the Accounting Society of China and warmly welcomed all guests to visit and exchange ideas at DUFE and the Liaoning Accounting and Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Society in the future. Professor Yougang DING (President of Xiamen National Accounting Institute), delivered a speech on behalf of the next host institution, warmly invited accounting theorists and practitioners from across China to attend next year's conference in Xiamen. Guoqiang LIU (Deputy Secretary-General of the Accounting Society of China and Editor-in-Chief of Accounting Research) delivered a concluding speech. He noted that the conference was rich in content, distinctive in features, and outstanding in achievements, and expressed sincere thanks to the Department of Finance of Liaoning Province, DUFE, the Liaoning Accounting and Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Society, and all the attending guests.

 

The successful organization of this conference will help stimulate the research enthusiasm of faculty and students, accelerate the cultivation of high-level research achievements, and enhance the university's national influence. At the same time, it holds great significance for advancing the development of first-class disciplines and further promoting the progress of accounting research in China.
