Abstract:
This paper empirically tests the influence mechanism and effectiveness of corporate social media usage behavior on innovation performance from a micro perspective, starting from voluntary information disclosure. Research has found that:
i. The increase in diversity and activeness of corporate social media embedding significantly enhances the technological innovation capability;
ii. The increase in diversity and activeness of corporate social media embedding has strengthened the information exchange between social media platform users and enterprises, thereby constructing a trust relationship between enterprises and potential investors, consumers, and technology collaborators;
iii. Heterogeneity analysis shows that the improvement effect of corporate social media embedding on innovation performance is mainly reflected in manufacturing enterprises; The composite background and technological background of executives strengthen the positive effect of corporate social media embedding on innovation performance, while the state-owned property attribute weakens the positive effect of corporate social media embedding on innovation performance.
To sum up, this paper creatively discovered the facilitation effect of information exchange ability of enterprises on social media on the technological innovation performance, providing theoretical reference for the empowerment path of enterprise innovation in the digital economy era, and also having policy implications for encouraging and guiding enterprise innovation.

Xueyun Zeng, Vice Dean, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor of the Institute of Science and Technology at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, P.R. China. Selected into the National Talent Plan and awarded the national honorary title. Served as the communication reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the communication reviewer for Beijing Municipal Natural Science Foundation, the peer reviewer for academic dissertations from the Ministry of Education of P.R. China. The main research directions are accounting standard, fair value, and the digital economy.
