On September 16, 2026, the School of Accounting held the opening ceremony for the 2026 cohort of professional doctoral students in accounting (hereinafter referred to as “Accounting Professional Doctoral Students”) in Meeting Room 703, Duxing Building. Xing LIU, Dean of the School of Accounting; Xiaodong ZHANG, Vice Dean; Wenzhang SUN, Director of the Professional Degree Education Center; Yingbing JIANG, representative of the teaching faculty; relevant staff from the School Office and the Student Affairs Office; and all new 2026 Accounting Professional Doctoral Students attended. The opening ceremony was presided over by Wenzhang SUN.

On behalf of all faculty and students of the School of Accounting, Hang LIU welcomed all new students who had been successfully admitted to the Accounting Professional Doctoral Program and were embarking on their doctoral studies. He introduced the development history of the School’s disciplines and the basic information about the Accounting Professional Doctoral degree program, and set clear requirements for the new students’ future studies: they should observe classroom teaching discipline and maintain a proper attitude toward learning; value academic training and build a solid foundation for research; and always adhere to the bottom line of academic integrity and cultivate a fine scholarly character. Regarding their future growth and development, Xing LIU expressed his expectations for the students.

Xiaobo Liu spoke on behalf of all the new Accounting Professional Doctoral students. He said that being able to return to his alma mater to pursue a professional doctorate filled him with a deep sense of honor and gratitude. In the face of the profound changes currently taking place in the economy and society and in the accounting profession, all the new students would complete their identity transition as quickly as possible, strictly abide by school rules and discipline, master professional knowledge, practice the unity of knowledge and action, and remain committed to empowering development through practice. They would strive to translate what they learn into concrete strength for serving local economic development, and live up to the School’s cultivation and expectations.

Xiaodong ZHANG introduced the development history of professional doctoral degrees and the main differences between professional doctoral degrees and academic doctoral degrees. He pointed out that the training of professional doctoral students has a distinctly practice-oriented nature. First, students are recruited from practice; second, a supervisory group model is adopted for training; third, the outcomes serve practice; and fourth, the courses are oriented toward the frontier. Using the two characters “Duxing” in the name of Duxing Building, where the ceremony was held, as a message to all the new students, he encouraged them to keep in mind the university motto “Learn Extensively to Benefit Society,” to deepen their professional expertise and practice diligently, to persist in organically integrating theoretical study with practical exploration, and to keep exploring and practicing tirelessly on their academic journey, so that they truly achieve success in learning and excellence in their profession.
